About Us

With over 20 years experience in the waste and municipal sector and many years combined experience in the commercial, specialist vehicle and plant sector we understand the inconvenience that can be caused when disposing of surplus assets or trying to procure quality used vehicles and equipment.

We also know through years of experience that the traditional physical auction process can be costly, time-consuming and frustrating. That is the reason we invested heavily over a period of 18 months to develop a much more viable alternative - welcome to Munie.com

Munie.com is the UK's first and original online auction site dedicated to the municipal, commercial and specialist vehicle / equipment sector. While there are other well known online auction sites where these types of equipment can be found, there are none with our industry experience, industry specific features or that are dedicated to this sector.

Munie has been designed as a 100% transparent way for of buying and selling used assets and puts buyers and sellers in control.

Whether you are a fleet manager within a local authority, a waste management company, a construction business or a plumber looking for a new van, we can offer a solution.

Our philosophy has always been that the auction process should be as simple and cost-effective as possible, that's why we don't charge sales commissions or have any hidden costs. We simply charge a low flat rate listing fee.

As a seller you can choose from a range of options to make your listing as attractive as possible and you can monitor the sale process from start to finish. You don't even need to take vehicles out of active service to sell them or send them to a physical auction site where they could be depreciating with every day they are there. They can still be on the road earning you money until they are sold.

This is where the unique strength of Munie lies, in that we are putting you as a buyer or seller in full control of the process.

The days of relying of 3rd party auctioneers are over.

As a buyer you can source and buy equipment without the need to travel around the country visiting different auction sites.

We have even added a number of features to give you peace of mind that you are looking at a genuine piece of equipment.

For a modest fee you can request that the FTA (Freight Transport Association) carry out an independent inspection on a vehicle on your behalf. They will then provide you with a detailed report on the actual condition of that piece of equipment.

If a seller has chosen to sell his/her item with our Premium Package this inspection is already included as is a Hpi vehicle background check which will give you information on the history of that vehicle.

The service we provide is designed to be timely and easy to use, however should you need us we have a fully trained customer support team available.

We provide all relevant fee receipts and invoice paperwork to prove that assets were sold through auction for auditing purposes and all account activity and transactions are confirmed via email.

Munie.com also features a Buyers Lounge which is an information portal where members can find forums, competitions, news pages, parts and service finders, business directory, recruitment pages, transport links, insurance links, finance links and even games. Munie truely is a one stop shop.

We also understand that the world doesn't stand still and we are constantly working on new features and investing in further development of the service we offer. That way we can ensure we are always one step ahead and offering our members a service that is second to none.
History.
Back in 2006 Cooper Group Managing Director Ian Cooper had a dilemma. He had a number of used refuse vehicles from the Cooper Hire fleet to dispose of but had niether the time nor the inclination to take them to auction. Experience had told him in the past that the moment you contact a physical auction house or remarketing company its going to start costing you money, from collection charges to storage and sales commissions the costs add up. Not to mention the depreciation suffered while vehicles sit waiting to be sold.
So, sitting in his office one day Ian starts thinking 'there must be an easier way' (a phrase that was to become a Munie slogan!). Wouldn't it be nice to be able to arrange asset disposal from the comfort of your own office and not have to pay any commissions or hidden costs for the privelege. Wouldnt it be nice for buyers to be able to find equipment, finance it, pay for it, insure it and then get it delivered to their door step also from the comfort of their own office/home and not have to pay any premiums for the privelege. Not only that wouldn't it be nice to have vehicles still in active service earning money while they are being sold.
With these thoughts Munie.com was born.
